ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS FOR WATER BILLS
As part of our commitment to provide our citizens and customers with efficient, convenient service, the Town of Pocahontas has partnered with Official Payments Corp®. to offer payment of Water Bills online.
Official Payments Corp®., the service provider, charges a convenience fee for payment processing.
You must have your Water Billing Account number, exact name on the account, and mailing address associated to your account you are paying for. To proceed, click the Official Payments logo below.
Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, and Discover® credit and debit cards are accepted.

Pocahontas Water Rates & Policy Information
Rates: Residential & Commercial

Water Rates Established: 1989
Delayed Payment Penalty Policy:
The above tariff is net on all current usage billings not paid within twenty (20) days, ten percent (10%) will be added to the net current amount unpaid. This delayed payment penalty is not interest and is to be collected only once for each bill where it is appropriate.
New Water Service Connection Fee:
$400.00 plus (Cost plus 10%)
Non Payment Reconnection Fee:
Unpaid water bills are terminated on the 25th of each month. A $50.00 re-connect fee is charged to re-established water service once all past due amounts are collected.
Deposit:
A $40.00 deposit will be collected from all rental units in which water accounts are listed in the tenant’s name. The $40.00 deposit will be refunded or applied to the account when the tenant vacates the rental property. Water billing remaining on account after deemed uncollectable from the tenant will become the responsibility of the property owner.
Unauthorized Use of Public Water:
A $250.00 deposit will be collected from any account that illegally connects to the water supply system. After twelve (12) months of timely water bill payments and if no further violations occur, the account will be entitled to have the deposit refunded or balance applied to the account.
Payments accepted:
Payments maybe made at the Pocahontas Town Hall, 300 Centre Street, BB&T Bank, 101 West Water Street, Night Deposit Box-Town Hall. Mail payments to: Town of Pocahontas, P.O. Box 128, Pocahontas, Va., 24635
Billing Cycle:
Billing Cycle – 18th of the month. Billing Mailed – 1st of every month. 10% interested added on the 20th of the month. Disconnect is on the 25th of the month.
Leak abatement policy:
The Pocahontas Water Distribution System will allow a leak abatement to a customer who discovers a leak on their line. The following conditions must be honored in order to receive a leak abatement.
- The leak must be repaired
- The leak abatement can only be taken for one month. If the leak is over several months then leak abatement will only be for the first month in which the leak was identified.
- The leak abatement can not be made retroactive to handle a delinquent account.
- All leak abatements must be taken with in 30 days when the leak is discovered.
- The leak abatement will be adjusted to the monthly average of the preceding twelve months plus a 10% charge of the total leak billed.
- The Pocahontas Water Distribution System holds the right to terminate any utility account for failure to repair leaks with in a reasonable time regardless of the payment status or history of the account.
